When I look back over my life and think about the choices and mistakes I have made I do not look back and feel sadness or regret. I look back and think of how lucky I am to have learnt life’s lessons the hard way. I have my past and unfortunate upbringing to thank for everything I have today. It has taken several years to be comfortable with who I am and where I came from but a wise lover once told me ‘You have only yourself to thank for who you have become. I know it hasn’t always been easy for you but everything you have achieved is on you”. So with those words finally sinking in I have realised I certainly do not owe thanks to anyone for getting as far as I have, because what I am today well that was all me.

You can not choose your family but you can choose who you want to be and I choose not to be them.
